When you get told 'we're not compatible'?

I was dating a guy for 3 months. I'm 30, he's 34. The past 3-4 weeks we argued a lot, but the was still great. We had an argument sunday night and he said he needed time to think about things. I waited, then yesterday he tells me he's not feeling good about things, likes me, but doenst think we're compatible. I agreed that we didnt get along, but there were things about him i like. He said, i like you a lot too and wanted to talk to me. I basically said, no point, let's just end things now, good luck, etc. well last night i got drunk, texted him and we had a big fight. I am angry abut the outcome...i dont even know why since our personalities didnt go together well...i guess i wished we could have stayed together a bit longer to see what happened...even though i questioned so much about him...i dont get myself :(
